Heritage Sites Moment: Summer interpreters

Hi there, my name is Julia Matheson and I am one half of the summer historical interpretation team this year.

Here at the St. Albert grain elevator and river lot sites, we are busy tending to our community garden, touring guests around the historical buildings and caring for the newly opened heritage houses.

This fall, I am returning to university with future aspirations to complete a Master’s program. Being well versed in local history means that I can share my passion for social studies with my future students.

As a summer student this year I have been able to explore gardening for the first time with the opening of the community garden.

I have also been able to read up on natural history and how to be an Indigenous ally. These pursuits are enriching my understanding of the community I grew up in.

I can’t wait to take you on a tour of our historic grain elevators and share stories of our past.

To learn more about the heritage sites, please visit us during our open hours, which are updated on our main website, and we are always open to questions or inquires through museum@artsandheritage.ca or call 780-459-1528. The heritage sites will be open until Labour Day, Sept 6, 2021.
