Celebration of Lorne Akins Junior High School in St. Albert, Alberta

On Thursday, September 25, 2014, the Musée Héritage Museum was invited to a special open house at the St. Albert Public Schools District Office in order to view a display commemorating the history of Lorne Akins Junior High School.

Vino (museum archivist) and Roy (education programmer) were among the many members of our community who attended the event which included current and former staff, parents, students, and alumni.

The museum was also proud to contribute some of our photographs of Lorne Akins for the displays.

Information and photos about one of St. Albert’s prominent citizens, Lorne Akins
Former principals, and vice principals, spoke about the history of the school and shared fond memories of students and staff. You could tell that their time spent at this junior high school still remains a big part of their lives. We heard it said many times, “Once a Gator, always a Gator!”
Congratulations to the committees that put this display together and thank you for inviting the museum staff to the presentation. Job well done Lorne Akins Junior High!
