Programs at the Little White School

Happy New Year from all of us at the museum and heritage sites!  Our new year started with drop in family programs at the Little White School from January 2nd to the 5th.

At each of the programs, visitors were able to come by the school, have a look around and make a fun take home craft. With the kids still off of school that week, we had a great turnout each day!

On the first day, we made snowmen and penguins out of socks, foam balls, and toilet paper rolls.

On the second day, visitors were able to make little jars of their own hot chocolate mix.

On the third day, we did colourful snow painting, using spray bottles filled with water and food colouring. We tried to freeze bubbles too, but it was too warm outside and the bubbles would not freeze, but it was still fun to blow bubbles in the wintertime.

Finally, on day four, we made winter bird feeders, by stringing cereal onto string and pipe cleaners. These simple feeders, made in various imaginative designs, will definitely look great in our visitors’ back yards, and our little feathered friends will be happy, as well as the squirrels!

Thanks to everyone who came out during that week! We had a great time, met some really nice folks and had the chance to visit with some long-time supporters too. We hope that everyone enjoyed themselves and will certainly be offering more drop-in programs at the Little White School in the future.

Join us at the Musée Héritage Musuem on Family Day, February 19, 2018, for Fun with Science from 12pm – 4pm, and watch for Spring Break program information at http://museeheritage.ca

Happy New Year!
