Heritage Sites Moment: 2021 Historical Walking Tours Summer Series & Children’s Drop-in Crafts

Our 2021 Historical Walking Tours summer series kicked off on Thursday, August 5th with our Lots on the Land tour. The tour, which includes St. Albert Grain Elevator Park and Historic River Lots 23 & 24, was well attended. Thank you to everyone who joined!

The series continues each Thursday of August into early September. Walking tours are $3/person and run from 6:00-7:30pm each Thursday evening.

Are you curious about the early years of St. Albert’s mission? Our Mission Hill tour shares the stories of the St. Albert Mission, founded in 1861. Join us on August 12th to tour Mission Hill. We will meet at the Father Lacombe Chapel (2 St. Vital Ave) at 6:00pm.

Perron Street downtown has seen many changes over the years and our Downtown Tour will spark your interest in the earliest businesses in the heart of our city. Join us on August 19th to tour Downtown. We will meet at the Musée Héritage Museum (5 St Anne St) at 6:00pm.

The Sturgeon River has a rich natural and cultural history that will fascinate you on our scenic Along the River tour. Join us on August 26th for a walk along the river. We will meet at the Musée Héritage Museum (5 St Anne St) at 6:00pm

Finally, come and tour the newly restored houses and granary on Historic River Lots 23 & 24 and our 1906 and 1929 grain elevators at St. Albert Grain Elevator Park. Our Lots on the Land tour shares stories of agricultural, as well as Métis and Francophone history in St. Albert. Join us on September 2nd to tour St. Albert Grain Elevator Park and Historic River Lots 23 & 24. We will meet at St. Albert Grain Elevator Park (4 Meadowview Dr.) at 6:00pm.

For the rest of August we are excited to offer Children’s Drop-in Crafts. Each week there will be a new craft available for you to stop by and take home, or complete on one of the many picnic tables spaces throughout the St. Albert Grain Elevator Park and Historic River Lots 23 & 24. While you are here, ask about our scavenger hunt.
